Donald Martiny (born 1953 in Schenectady, New York) is an American artist.Martiny attended the Art Students League of New York, the School of Visual Arts, and New York University, as well as the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He currently lives and works in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.Martiny's work has been featured in museum exhibitions including a solo show at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Indiana, and in the East Wing Biennial at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London, curated by Alicia Stockley and Elizabeth de Bertier.In 2015, Martiny had two monumental paintings permanently installed in the lobby of One World Trade Center, New York City. Martiny was the subject of the 2016 book "Donald Martiny: Monumental Gestures" with texts by Carter Ratcliff, Charles A. Shepard III (FWMoA), Deborah Swallow (Courtauld Institute), and Lawrence J. Wheeler (NCMA). Martiny's work has been featured on NPR, in New American Paintings 2015 | South, Artsy Editorial, VogueLiving | Australia, Philadelphia Inquirer.
